Today is a very special day, because October 8th marks the six year anniversary of Aikatsu, and with that, October 10th will mark the sixth anniversary of Mezashite too. Here’s to six more years, and many more after!

This was basically two episodes in one, for double the fun! Plus it’s the turnover of the new OP and ED, and they’re both great! Especially the ending, I can’t get over how cool it is and the story it tells. I just wish they didn’t make me put so much effort into the song styling…

Oh man, all the pun names. You’ll see how crazy they get when you reach that part of the episode. Unfortunately, it appears that whoever wrote the script (the actual script) made a typo that nobody caught, as Mio accidentally says the wrong word while describing one of the guests on the show. You shouldn’t notice, as I fixed it in the subs. There is some real serious stuff this episode, which I’ll be explaining in a separate post, so look out for that in a bit. In the meantime, please enjoy these multifaceted machinations.

It’s always a fun time when I get to learn a new and obscure Japanese makeup technique for an episode. What Ken talks about with Aine in the middle is 抜け感, which means something like “looking cool and mature without seeming like a try-hard”. Of course, there’s no concise way to phrase all of that, so we had to cut some corners, but basically it’s doing makeup the right way. Separately, it’s always great to get more Karen and Mirai fans. Now all we need is for Honey Cat to get taught personally by them as well.

I want an anime about boxing Onii-chan and his supportive family

I’m conflicted! This episode was great! But… it was done by… by Kyogoku Takahiko! It was his first actually good idol anime script and direction! If only he could stay like this on the light side and never return to the dark one. But, the power of money is too strong. My friends, never be blinded by greed and lust, for they will make you stray from the righteous path of Aikatsu.

Happy 300th episode of Aikatsu! Let’s celebrate by not knowing how moon phases work! But for real, I very much enjoyed this, and we’ve officially reached our 8 idol count to match the original series. But then, what could the seiyuu auditions be for…? One way or another, I’m sure a divination of our future looks bright. And also, we haven’t forgotten about Nana-chan. Our translator was just off enjoying the 5th Anniversary Fest in Japan, but we’ll get to them soon.
