Every year, Akatsukin and I play a prediction game for the Saimoe tournament. In the past, we used spreadsheets and IRC, which was really cumbersome and annoying, so this year, I decided make a thing to make it less cumbersome and annoying. That thing comes in the form of a website-ish thing, found here. I figured that since it existed, I might as well make it open.

Kin-iro Mosaic – 04, 03v1
Aikatsu! – 41
STAR☆ANIS, start!
By the way maguro (tuna) sort of sounds like makura (pillow). Go figure.

Why simulcasts are killing fansubbing
(If you’re a CR rep, it’s nothing personal)
What is a fansub? Is it a literal translation of the original Japanese, made in order to bring you as close to the original experience as possible? Is it a chance to show off how fancy you can make karaoke effects? Show off your English writing skills (read: thesaurus)? Maybe even try to expand your e-peen and get net popularity? Just what is it?
Kin-iro Mosaic – 03
Union jacket, best jacket.
Yuyu, who does the encoding, turned a little invisible today, so we’re releasing with HS video today. There will be a v1 eventually, probably, with non-HS video.
TL notes post-break.

Aikatsu! – 40
Woo, down to the last ten episodes! And finally, something I’ve been waiting for for a while has finally come back. Funnily enough, the characters acknowledge that it was forgotten about for a while.
As for notes, I could write about what daifuku and senbe are, but that’s not terribly important. And if you’ve been watching anime for any amount of time, you’re probably already aware of the Obon Festival and how they force little girls to sing and dance to bring back the dead (or something). Well, you get the point. Enjoy your lolis.

Aikatsu! – 39
So like I said, delays this week brought to you by Japan, planes, and soul crushing goodness. By the way, the thing that Orihime keeps bringing up, 嗣子の子落とし(shishi no ko otoshi), literally means “lion-child dropping”. Wish we had something closer in English. Next episode hopefully on time.

Kin-iro Mosaic – 02
…
Here’s an episode of … not-Aikatsu! Aikatsu is delayed until whenever it gets done.
TL notes for Kin-iro to come in the next hour or so.
Episode 02: Torrent
Akatsukin: So, you might be wondering where Aikatsu is right now. You ever have one of those weeks where everything you thought you knew was wrong, and your entire life was turned upside down? Add that to 22 hours of plane traveling and you’ve got my last week. Not to blog (ha ha), but that’s why delays. Kiniro out because Etoce did all the hard parts so I got to rest. Most likely release tomorrow.
Kin-iro Mosaic – 01
This image is kind of representative of why we were late.
Due to travel- and plane-crash-related reasons (none of which resulted in permanent bodily harm in any of our members), we became late.
The fact that the audio and video weren’t synced correctly when this episode aired in Japan didn’t help, either. We ended up having to time it twice, which was annoying, but not as bad as a plane crashing.
(Also, why does it seem like the lines are timed a little bit too late in general in the release? Is it just me?)
Here’s the episode. Though there weren’t very many in the first episode, this show promises to require lots of TL notes (none of which we are normally willing to put in the episode itself), and I’ll include them in the release posts. TL notes after the break.

Summer Season Plans

It seems we haven’t made a post about this season’s plans, and since we’re working on the first episode already, I figured I should probably announce it. We’re doing Kiniro Mosaic (which translates kinda to “Golden Mosaic”).
The first episode will be delayed until approximately 24 hours from now because Akatsukin is really high right now. Akatsukin is stuck in the San Francisco airport because of the crash, so we… don’t have typesetting. And the script hasn’t been edited yet.
Also, “they” have been suggesting the existence of a second Aikatsu season. Nothing’s confirmed though, so who knows.
